The book is a connected argument, so v1 draws its evidence pool from the
doctrinal chapters where Ford states his theory of business (the
autobiographical and case-history chapters are read for context but are not the
primary quote source):

Chapters I, II, IV, VI, IX, XV–XIX (biography, railroads, charity, «things in

v1 does not mine them for concept anchors.

Touched, but out of the evidence pool (marked)

  • Ford's later books — Today and Tomorrow (1926) and Moving Forward
    (1930), both written with Crowther. Public domain, but not ingested for
    v1. Where the doctrine («service», price/volume) is developed further in them,
    the anchor here is always My Life and Work, not the sequels.

Excluded from v1

  • Ford's antisemitic writings — the Dearborn Independent articles and the
    International Jew pamphlets (early 1920s). They are Ford's, they are of the
    same years, but they are a different corpus and their bigotry does not
    appear in My Life and Work. This KB is the doctrine of this book only; see
    QUOTE_AUTHENTICITY for the hard boundary. Do not import claims across it.
  • The autobiographical anecdotes (the watch, the racing cars, the 1921 balance
    sheet) as standalone historical claims: they are Ford's illustrations, cited
    to ground his doctrine, not as independent history or as verified accounting.
  • «Best of Ford» motivational quote collections without an edition trace — Ford,
    like Smiles, is meme-saturated (see QUOTE_AUTHENTICITY).
  • Modern edited/abridged reprints — the Gutenberg standard text is the anchor.

Reason

My Life and Work is the manifesto of the productive-service ethic: business as
service not «bonanza», high wages as sound business, waste and greed as the twin
enemies, price-down/volume-up, and finance-over-production as the great error.
Its soul is the connective argument of the doctrinal chapters, not the
factory-history detail. Binding the evidence to those chapters — and sealing the
corpus against Ford's separate bigoted writings — keeps the KB honest and the
corpus the smallest that still carries the doctrine.
